Hi. The problem with asking this type of question on this site is that there is no-one who can answer with full and complete information. Added to that, the answers given are often far from accurate. I wonder if some of them really live here at all.

New Zealand universities are very keen to attract foreign students and so they give comprehensive information on their websites. Your best bet is to check those websites and get all the information you need from there. The main universities here are – Auckland, Massey, Victoria, Canterbury, and Otago. Choose one or all and you will find everything you need.

To get you started, but not as a recommendation, I give below the link to Auckland.

    Good luck.

New Zealand is a good choice right now. High quality instruction, in English, and the price is reasonable.

There are internal standards for New Zealand High School leavers, but these requirments are set aside for "good" graduates of overseas schools on a case by case basis.

Many Koreans go to New Zealand for a year or two of High School — students and mothers.

    Look into University of Canterbury.

    Hi!

You don’t need to get New Zealand high school qualifications in order to attend a NZ university. The entry requirements are fairly low anyway – three C grades (most students take 5 subjects in their final year) or one A grade.
NZers don’t take tests to get into university (if you say college, most people think of high school), I’m not sure whether international students do. You will definitely have to pass an English test if you are not from an English speaking country, but that doesn’t sound like it’ll be a problem for you.
    We don’t have SATs.
You’ll need a student visa. Check out http://www.immigration.govt.nz/community/stream/educate/educationproviders/whatisrequired/studentrequirements/

You will be paying international student fees, which are much higher than domestic fees, but still lower than other countries’ fees.

    Good luck.
Someone mentioned you check out Canterbury University. I feel you should be warned that Christchurch (where that university in located) has been known in the past for racism, especially towards Asians. Much has been done to rectify the problem, though, and I don’t know the current situation.
I went to Otago University in the Dunedin (the deep South). It’s cold there but beautiful and there’s a great student atmosphere. It was the first university in NZ.
The other major unversities are located in Auckland, Wellington and Hamilton. Culturally, the North Island offers more opportunities. For nature and adventure, you want the South Island, but everywhere you go in New Zealand will offer amazing experiences.

    Good luck.
