what are the steps to begin the process of someone coming to USA from Algeria. What do I do 2 start process?
I wish to assistance someone come here from Algeria as well as we do not know where to start. Can any one give me any report upon this. What do we have to do initial with a routine ?
Option #1: Employment-based immigration
- Get a 4-5 year college degree and a few years of experience in a specialty occupation that there is a lack of US Citizens to fulfil.
- Find a company in the USA that will sponsor them for an H-1B dual-intent visa. Then he/she will have a 30% chance of getting the H-1B visa in the lottery. I should mention upfront that they should expect to be exploited and underpaid for at least a few years here until they can prove themself valuable enough for a company to process their Green Card, which is easier said than done these days.
Option #2: Enter the diversity lottery for Green Cards
- Nationals from certain countries can enter a random lottery where they have about a 0.05% chance of being selected for a free Green Card to promote diversity in the USA.
Option #3 – Starting a business:
- Have your friend save up a million dollars
- He can then open a business in USA that employes several US citizens and petition himself for an investment-based Green Card.
Option #4 – Marriage:
- Find a spouse for your friend that is a US Citizen.
- Or, find someone willing to marry him/her and sacrifice the next several years of their lives to get him a Green Card, since the process will take 3-4 years, and another 2 years to get the marriage conditions removed from the Green Card.
Thats about it. Not just anyone can immigrate to the USA. You need to have skills in an area that there is a shortage of US Citizens to fill, and earn your way here by going through the lovely bureaucracy that has become a complete joke at this point. With that being said, they can probably come as a tourist for a few months under a B-class visa. He/she would need to see the US Consolate in their foreign country about that.
Well both of you should visit the Algerian US embassy website http://algiers.usembassy.gov/ for information on applying for US visas. If he’s just visiting the US, he should apply for visitor visa, otherwise he can apply for student visa, work visa, etc depending on the purpose of the visit.
