Like FC said. You will probably be attending an English speaking school provided by the militairy. One of them is SHAPE International: http://www.english-schools.org/belgium/shape-international-school.htm

To know how it would be different … no comparison … no idea what your situation is at the moment.

Belgian youngster are an active lot on the whole. There are loads of organisations you can join for anything from volleyball to fanfare bands that play on streetmarkets in spring and summer. Many Belgians will speak English but some might be better at French. Education is taken very seriously in Belgium, probably even more so than in the US.

Culturally it’s quite a bit different, but being a military kid you probably won’t get to experience this so much as I assume you would be going to an American school.
I suppose the government will find housing for you here, which will probably mean you’ll get a nice, big house in a good area.

I’ve lived in Belgium for 5 years now, in the beginning it’s a very strange place but after a few years I got used to it and finally learned to understand the people.

In Belgium any Paki will sell you alcohol and cigarettes, whether you’re the legal age or not.

Some advice: Do not look like a tourist around Arabs in Brussels, they sometimes try to mug you.

I’m guessing your already know about the country being bilingual languages are dutch and french. But most can use english there.
As you get older they have the best beer in the world so your father will be happy and just try and fit in and be yourself.
After your known a while most will be friendly. Get yourself another wallet for their euro bills as each bill is a different size and get ready for the loose change in coins as well Set up a bank account asap easy to use debit card there for everything.
Have a great time and make the most of your time there, learn the language and enjoy your time in Belgium.
You can travel anywhere in europe fast by train from there
